The Intentional Cook site came about from my desire to share how I cook. After years of putting pictures out there on Facebook for friends and family to see and getting constant comments from people about how “I could never make that” or “Can you give me the recipe” I decided to jump into the fray and start a blog. The name “The Intentional Cook” comes from my belief cooking with purpose leads to the best results. This can include the ingredients you choose to use, techniques you are wanting to master, how you want to serve your creations or even who you are cooking for.

My husband and I live in Northern Virginia. We are lucky to have access to year round fresh produce from local markets, great bakeries and butcher shops. I also work in large scale food production for my day job. This has given me access to learn about varied techniques and tools commonly used in the food business. I am not a formally trained chef/cook but I have been an adventurous home cook since my early years. I have had failures and successes in the kitchen and you will also. And, while we don’t have children many of my recipes are kid friendly.

My hope with this site is to be able to show that if you can read a recipe and have the proper tools and ingredients you, too, can cook anything. I plan on sharing recipes from my extensive cookbook collection, some family favorites and recipes I’ve developed and cooked myself for years. I hope you enjoy what you see and please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Cheers,

Steve
